The stamper is the prototype from which discs are replicated and is unique for each title. After the stamper is made in our mastering department, it is installed onto an injection molding machine in the disc pressing line. In a cyclical process plastic is injected to this mold in order to create a new disc. As the disc completes the process, it incorporates the unique information of the title.
Each stamper can create thousands of discs, and it can be used repetitively.
The original media should be prepared according to the conditions explained in this website in the page titled “Mastering”. We do not conduct content testing on the original master sent by the customer. The customer is responsible for guaranteeing the original content. CDI is solely responsible for replicating the data that is on the original media.
Silk / screen-printing is the industry-accepted process for printing a label onto a disc. In a printing machine, each color has its own screen, and the disc goes through each station in which a color is printed. In this manner, the final product is comprised of all the colors through which the disc has passed.
A label design that is prepared by a graphic designer (which is sent to us in digital file format) goes through a preparation process before printing. The process involves separating colors (4-color process printing is composed of 4 basic colors - red, yellow, blue and black; plus a white surface if needed) and preparing the printing screens.
